About The Foundation

The famous Crystal Mill is still standing and is an iconic Colorado Mill that should be available for future generations to see, experience and explore. The Crystal Mill demonstrates the tenacity and determination of the western spirit of men and women who came west to try their hands at mining and chase dreams of fortune in the 1880’s and the mining era.

After more than a year exploring potential partners including local, state and federal government agencies, it was made clear to us that currently, there is no organization that could purchase and manage this project due to several factors including project size and scope, other long-term projects in the works, and current staff and budget challenges within several agencies.  Therefore, we are forming this nonprofit that will actively seek and collect donations to purchase the Crystal Mill to preserve, manage and protect this priceless piece of Colorado history for generations to come.

Our vision and mission is to preserve, protect, manage and maintain the historic Crystal Mill for current visitors, heritage tourists and future generations for educational and historic purposes.  Our number one goal is to purchase the Mill.  We intend on preserving, managing and protecting the Crystal Mill for the next 100 years for visitors to experience and learn about.  Long-term, we intend on preserving and restoring other historic sites and/or buildings that remain in this historic town of Crystal and allow visitors to view other areas as we strive to make them safe and accessible.

Our Mission and Vision

To preserve, protect, manage and maintain the historic Crystal Mill for current visitors, heritage tourists and future generations for educational and historic purposes.

  • To preserve and protect the mill after purchasing from private hands to keep it safe from destruction and restore it for the future.
  • To help restore and manage these priceless pieces of Colorado history for the general public and future generations to showcase what the western silver mining towns were like.
  • To promote heritage tourism in Colorado in order to educate generations on the history of this western town and Colorado mining in the 1880’s.

The Crystal Mill is a priceless irreplaceable example of our Colorado western heritage that deserves to be preserved and managed for the next 100 years.
